About the role: 
 
Unifying our customer experience across physical and digital channels, our Digital team build and deliver products where technology meets our customers – web, app, and retail.   
 
 
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be building and evolving the backend services that power Ampol's customer, loyalty, and rewards platforms. You'll design and deliver the APIs, messaging pipelines, and cloud services that connect customer transactions to real-time rewards. Your work will span the full loyalty ecosystem, from expanding rewards and offer capabilities to enhancements of  the customer experience. 
 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Design and develop backend services supporting the loyalty engine, including transaction processing, offer evaluation, and rewards fulfilment across multiple customer segments 
  • Build and maintain integrations across internal systems (POS, accounting, app platform) using messaging queues and service bus architecture 
  • Contribute to expanding loyalty functionality, ensuring solutions are scalable and reliable at volume 
  • Support customer journey enhancements  
  • Support the development and adoption of coding standards and best practices, including ongoing update/refactoring work  
  • Participate in the Software Engineering Community of Practice and DevSecOps initiatives to share knowledge and align with organisational goals 

  

Qualifications & Experience 

 

  • Strong software development experience with a focus on back-end integration within enterprise environments 
  • Demonstrated experience with .Net, with exposure to mentoring peers and contributing to best practises 
  • Hands-on experience designing and building event-driven or message-based architectures (e.g. Azure Service Bus, messaging queues) 
  • Well-developed troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including debugging, performance optimisation and root cause analysis 
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments 
  • Familiarity with secure coding practises (e.g. DevSecOps), participation in code reviews, source code management (GitHub) and infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Terraform)
