Brief Overview:

The Copy Editor, Marketing will play a critical role in the Marketing department. As a Copy Editor, you will be taking the 1,000-foot view of our content across channels and clients, while simultaneously rolling up your sleeves. We’re looking for someone who’s meticulous, deadline-drive, and can work in a collaborative environment to create engaging content for a range of audiences and industries. Specifically, the Copy Editor, Marketing will:

Job Description

Serve as lead editor for Amwell and brands/clients that we work with:

  • Define editorial best practices and style consistency
  • Communicate brand-specific style or process updates, challenges, and concerns to freelance colleagues
  • Write, update, and distribute account-specific brand guidelines

Edit content for concision, clarity, flow, and voice:

  • Analyze content, determining and performing level of edit necessary, revising, rewriting, and reorganizing as needed
  • Work closely with freelance copywriters to achieve best communication possible
  • Review layouts, assessing how copy works with the overall design

Verify accuracy of content:

  • We work in a healthcare/medical space, so part of this role will be ensuring accuracy of content (for example, we cannot prescribe ADHD drugs, so should not reference these in our materials)
  • Work directly with internal teams to ensure that content is substantiated by what we can do/offer through telehealth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (English or Liberal Arts degree preferred) or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in editing and writing
  • Experience managing freelance colleagues or other copywriters
  • Experience working in healthcare space, or on healthcare accounts preferred
  • Experience working in a variety of marketing channels including blogs, SEO content, direct mail, and email
