Brief Overview: 

The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in the Hosting department. Specifically, the Systems Engineer will monitor existing systems to ensure structural integrity and oversee the development and installation of new hardware and software.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:   

  • Assist with and identify departmental needs and contribute to the overall technical direction.
  • Install and configure operating systems and other software
  • Support 24/7 availability of system resources
  • Ensure compliance with security and data handling policies to meet PCI, HIPAA, and other standards
  • Write custom scripts, and improve existing scripts to reduce the need for human intervention
  • Continuous management and deployment of operating system patches
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Provide technical direction to Application support staff

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of experience in system administration and IT support required, with a primary focus on Linux based systems (Red Hat, CentOS)
  • Familiarity supporting Windows based systems and Active Directory
  • Knowledge of a scripting language such as Bash, Perl, Python, or PowerShell
  • Experience with configuration management and orchestrating tools preferred (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins)
  • Experience working with container solutions such as Docker
  • Knowledge of ELK, Redis, and LDAP a plus
  • Proven knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts
  • Technical and non-technical communication skills
  • Willingness to sign confidentiality agreement and protect trade secrets
