Job Description

This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM. This position is located at the UniPath Central Lab in Denver, Colorado, and is eligible for shift differential pay.

The Gyn/Non-Gyn Cytology Processor I is responsible for processing of gynecological and non-gyn samples, including:

  • Processing Gyn and Non-Gyn specimens per procedure manual guidelines.
  • Slide filing, retrieval, send out and consults according to procedures.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of all technical equipment used in the processing of all gynecological samples.
  • Entering data into spreadsheets; basic knowledge of Cortex or current LIS.
  • Maintaining knowledge of partial and complete breakdown (cleaning and maintenance) of all staining equipment per protocols.
  • Assisting in maintaining adequate inventory of consumable supplies. Notifying supervisor of anticipated shortages.
  • Helping prepare for accreditation inspections.
  • Participating in on-call rotation for Saturdays and holidays.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean work environment at all times (including equipment, supply stock, files, records, and counters, etc.) according to standards established by the supervisor, safety officer, and manager.

Successful Gyn/Non-Gyn Cytology Processor I candidates are:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Skilled in communicating and collaborating both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in effectively working with all levels of the organization.
  • Able to effectively solve problems and issues.
  • Able to work independently, or in small or large groups.
  • Conscious of and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfortable with handling chemicals.

Qualifications

Education, Formal Training and Related Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Post secondary education in the science field preferred.
  • Experience in a medical laboratory preferred but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Laboratory environment.
  • Must be able to sustain normal exposure to common laboratory environment, including the ability to tolerate wearing of face-masks, and use of germicidal soaps and solutions.
