Job Description

The Research consultant will be responsible for working with AMS staff to continue to build on AMS’s reputation as the leading Montessori research organization. 

  • Reports to: Deputy Director of Montessori Education
  • Classification: Contract up to 5 hours per week with possibly more project work
  • Worksite: Remote, working in the Eastern Time Zone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support AMS internal research projects:

    • Board and staff driven strategic initiatives regarding AMS research. 

    • Support internal AMS research inquiries logistically (e.g., surveys, state data) 

    • Prepare analytic reports based on research, surveys, and data 

  • Coordinate research activities and tasks with internal staff:

    • Conference preparation

    • Support to Montessori research community (mini-grants, graduate student discounts program, research poster session, website files/documents, teacher research panel, and thesis/dissertation awards)

  • Monitor and facilitate communications in a professional and timely manner:

    • Regular Facebook posting & monitoring

    • Maintain research documentation and files 

    • Coordinate communications, including responding to the research inbox, and interfacing with members and graduate students to provide research studies and links 

    • Support the creation of a quarterly research newsletter, with input from research committee, to disseminate research information to members 

  • Data Management, Reporting and Continuous Improvement

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements for surveys and social media, and communicate with the Deputy Director of Education.

Qualifications

The Research Consultant has a strong background in academic research, is mission-driven, creative, and self-directed thinker and doer with a minimum of 5 years of research experience in Montessori education and/or other related fields. Montessori credential and school experience preferred.
