Job Description

We are currently looking for a Shunter Operator to join our team.

As a Shunter Operator, you will be responsible for moving trailers and various materials around the site using a shunter truck. You will also perform weighing operations for incoming and outgoing materials and assist with various material-handling activities on the site.

You will primarily work outdoors in an industrial environment where safety, awareness, and teamwork are essential.

What you will be responsible for :

  • Receive metal and transport it to the appropriate areas;
  • Unload trucks and verify the quality of the materials received;
  • Transport scrap vehicles and other ferrous materials to the shredder loading area;
  • Move non-ferrous material bins to the appropriate areas;
  • Perform material identification tests using the appropriate tools or magnets;
  • Identify and assess non-saleable materials;
  • Conduct physical inventories of materials in stock according to the established schedule;
  • Record incoming and outgoing material weights in the required reports;
  • Grease and lubricate the different parts of the machine as needed;
  • Wash and maintain the machine when required;
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

To join our team :

  • You are able to drive and operate a manual heavy-duty truck;
  • You hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;
  • You have at least 1 year of experience in a similar position;
  • You are bilingual in French and English (asset);
  • You place a strong emphasis on health and safety;
  • You are able to manage multiple priorities effectively;
  • You have good communication skills;
  • You enjoy working as part of a team.
