Job Description
We are seeking a Quality Control Crane Operator to support our ferrous yard operations. This role is critical in maintaining material integrity and ensuring our customers receive consistent, high-quality product. The successful candidate will operate a crane to inspect, sort, and manage ferrous material piles, ensuring proper segregation and adherence to internal quality standards.
What you’re responsible for:
- Operating a crane to sort, move, and organize ferrous scrap materials within the yard
- Sorting existing material piles to ensure proper classification, consistency, and compliance
- Identify and remove contaminants or non-conforming materials
- Maintain clear separation of grades to support processing
- Collaborate with yard and operations teams to ensure material flow and inventory integrity
- Support loading activities to ensure correct materials are shipped according to requirements
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and follow safe operating procedures
- Report quality issues and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- You have an operator certification and/or experience operating heavy equipment
- You have a minimum of 2 year’s experience operating in a heavy industrial setting
- You have attention to detail and the ability to accurately position and handle different types of metal materials
- You are comfortable using various crane attachments, such as magnets or grapples
- You have familiarity with metal recycling processes, materials, and specifications
- You are comfortable working outdoors and in a heavy industrial environment
