Job Description
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for supporting all process engineering duties, ensuring all equipment running normally and efficiency and smooth running of the production department.
Responsibilities
- To provide engineering support to production by sustaining the good working efficiency of all process tools, parameters, and equipment at all the times. Initiate the fabrication of process jigs, tools or test equipment to improve production efficiency.
- Support the analysis and monitoring of any failure in the production process and formulate an effective action/solutions.
- Collect necessary data for:
- Process characterization and optimization using DOE methods.
- Continuous improvement of Cp/Cpk on all critical process steps.
- Qualification of new tools for production, including documentation, training and certification of production operators/technicians, and support of all process development projects.
- Proper maintenance of tools, equipment and machineries used in the manufacturing process. Establish equipment management system, set up equipment archives and ensure efficiency of equipment management.
- Lead the pre-production testing of new process and new equipment. Control costs and improve production flow during the initiation and implementation changes in the existing/new processes.
- Giving inputs on processes and potential failures of machine and processes to enhance reasonable production planning.
- To participate in the formulation of work instruction for new production process.
- Ensure production meets customer order requirements by following the production schedules and making quick actions/improvements if there's any issue.
- Ensure production process produces products that meet and exceed current quality standards, avoid customer complaints and returned products due to quality issues. Work with Quality Department in analyzing, determining and implementing corrective actions required when a quality issue is identified;
- Analyze the problem, improve production methods, fully exploit the production capacity, improve the production yield and increase the working efficiency, control and decrease production costs. Control the expense within the department budget.
- Make continuous improvement on 7S and lean manufacturing. Follow EHS (Environment/Health/Safety) safety standards. Care the working condition and the workers security. Avoid the derangement and injury.
- Ensure that the resources are in place to meet production obligations.
- Ensure appropriate training for operators and team leades.
- Meet the KPI target and performance of production operations.
- Coordinate the implementation and the ongoing application of a quality management system based on IATF16949 & ISO14000 standards;
- Responsible for production equipment running normally, and make preventive maintenance plan and schedule according to the machine manual instruction and company requirement.
- Establish spare parts Management system, ensure spare parts and components in place duly.
- Ensures all the on-site construction or machine installation related activities are in line with safety and environment as well as secure requirement through training and education to the workers.
- Define a training plan for operators and maintenance staff and keep records of the training.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Coordinate and verify the execution of the assigned tasks of operators and engineering staff
- Ensure appropriate training for each production and engineering employee
- Evaluate the performance of the subordinates
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Having a full knowledge of company manufacturing processes, products and the applications of these products.
- 6 Sigma, lean manufacturing experience is preferred.
- College or above education, and related experience as determined by above responsibilities.
- Having good written and oral communication skills in English and Malay.
- A thorough understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical system.
- IATF16949, ISO14001 or internal audit experience is preferred.
- Good machine maintenance and operation background.
