Job Description
The Environmental Coordinator will report directly to the Environmental Regional Manager. In this role the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of processes to maintain environmental, compliance and to support the operational Team to ensure continuous improvement.
- Coordinating the activities related to the maintenance of the ISO 14001 certificate and driving the implementation of environmental policies, processes and procedures for the Hamilton facility.
- Performing internal ISO 14001 audits and aiding in the coordination of the external audit and implementing action plans as required with the environmental team.
- Prepare and document environmental training relating for the site and create toolbox talks.
- Coordinate onboarding, refresher and recertification training with the EHS Coordinator to ensure compliance with ISO14001 training requirements.
- Coordinating, data collecting, performing and supervising environmental studies (surface water, groundwater, atmospheric emissions, noise, soils etc.)
- Performing site inspections/audits/checklists and verify environmental compliance to the authorizations and permits and report any deficiencies to Manager.
- Ensuring all environmental data is identified, documented and archived, consistent with ISO 14001 and other requirements.
- Aid with preparing and submitting all environmental reporting relating to the site.
- Coordinate and respond to community feedback line and when required participate in community stewardship activities.
- Collaborating with the advisor to ensure the coordination and proper management of the residual materials (hazardous and non-hazardous) on site (inventory tracking, transport and disposal, RPRA).
- Provide support to management of environmental incidents (exceedances or spills) and as required to non-compliances.
- With the aid of the Manager prepare for visits from external environmental parties carried out as part of permit requests, regulatory bodies inspections, or environmental compliance (ECA, etc.)
- Administrative tasks such as getting quotes, preparing requisitions relating to environment to support Manager.
- Aid the feeder yard advisor as required in the preparation of EMS, company environmental procedures, etc.
Qualifications
- You have 1+ of environmental experience in an industrial setting.
- You have post-secondary education in a related field.
- Experience with Environmental Management System- ISO14001:
- You have the ability to work within a group and problem solve effectively.
- You have the ability to organize, plan and prioritize work requirements effectively.
- You have strong computer knowledge including Microsoft applications and other web applications.
- You have strong written and oral communication.
- You have experience creating and delivering presentations.
- You have a valid driver's license.
