Job Description
Under the authority of the Plant Supervisor, the incumbent, using a shunter, is responsible for moving various equipment trailers as well as performing all other material handling operations requiring the use of their machine. The incumbent carries out the weighing of various materials entering or leaving the yard.
What you will be responsible for:
- Receiving metal and transport it to the appropriate locations
- Unloading trucks and verify the quality of the material
- Deliver car bodies and other ferrous materials to the shredder loading area
- Transport bins containing non‑ferrous materials
- Perform material identification tests using the appropriate products or magnets
- Assess cuts of material that are not saleable
- Take physical inventory counts of material in stock according to the established schedule
- Record in reports the weights of material upon arrival at and departure from the site
- Grease, as required, the various parts of the machine requiring lubrication
- Wash the machine when required
Qualifications
To join our team:
- You are able to drive and operate a heavy manual transmission truck
- You hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- You have at least one year of experience in a similar position
- You are bilingual (an asset)
- You demonstrate strong awareness of occupational health and safety
- You have good priority management skills
- You have strong communication skills
- You enjoy working as part of a team
