Health and Safety Manager

Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety and Corporate Safety, the Health and Safety Manager acts as a leader in the execution of the health and safety programme and strategy for AIM sites. This includes participation in the development of the programme and national health and safety initiatives. The position is responsible for promoting and supporting the operations teams in providing a safe environment for employees. The Health and Safety Manager interacts with regional operations, health, facilities management teams and Human Resources Business Partners to influence and maintain trust-based relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

 Responsibilities:

- Participate in the development of the health and safety programme.

- Supervise a team of Health and Safety Advisors

- Support the implementation of the health and safety strategic plan.

- Coach and support operations teams to develop an accident prevention culture.

- Ensure consistent delivery of the health and safety programme, including the implementation of policies, programmes, and processes to report and improve existing occupational health and safety practices and investigations.

- Support the organisation in the exercise of best practice in health and safety.

- Work with managers, supervisors, and HR business partners to implement corrective actions.

 - Work in partnership with the Site Manager to ensure compliance with provincial health and safety regulatory requirements.

- Ensure the execution of the communication plan and share good practice across all departments.

- Support the coordination of crisis situations and act as a resource person to partners and relevant authorities.

- Responsible for developing relationships with the local health and safety authorities.

- Monitor health and safety performance indicators and develop a regional plan with operational teams to improve them.

Qualifications

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or other equivalent field and/or relevant professional certification.

- Minimum of 8 years experience in health and safety management in manufacturing or heavy industry, including experience in a multi-site environment.

- Experience in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to constant changes impacting health and safety.

- Practical knowledge of applicable OHS legislation, standards, and regulations - Strong communication skills to maintain good interpersonal relations with various stakeholders.

- An innovative mindset, constantly looking for new technologies and practices.

- Knowledge of IT tools.

- Bilingual an asset
