Job Description

The Technical Support Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Learn and expand the full functionality and capacity of all the Lab equipment and tools to take full advantage of the available resources.
  • Have the full knowledge of all Lab procedures to maintain and improve an efficient Lab operation.
  • Continuously learn and demonstrate the proper use of AIM products and trouble shoot application issues.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for the global R&D group and align with the Technical Applications laboratory in Mexico.
  • Contribute directly with R&D in developing and characterizing new products based on more thorough testing methods and comparative analysis and reports generated by the Applications Lab.
  • Complete all Lab Service Requests (LSR's) in an efficient and timely manner. Continue to improve in time to complete standard LSR's from R&D and Applications in the least amount of time possible.
  • Develop and establish, along with Technical Applications and Product management, improved Applications Lab work-flow and reporting procedures for more effective and timely project results.
  • Providing reports of activity to the Director of Research and Development, reporting results to the project leaders per LSR, reporting as any technical documentation needed for product launches to the technical marketing team and the Product Manager.
  • Aiding in the development and improvement of AIM’s product lines.
  • Performing work in an organized and traceable manner.
  • Be proactive as far as bench marking competitor’s products against AIM products.
  • Partnering with the Mexico technical applications engineer and technical applications group to stay current with market trends and technology.
  • Contribute to technical related topics for product manufacture and improvements using scientific methods.
  • Learn and understand IPC and other related standards for the electronics industry and conforming to those methods for general laboratory testing.  Generating documentation and work instructions as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience running electronic assembly SMT/Wave equipment, tools, OEM experience and some Technician supervisory experience is preferred; relevance & equivalence to be determined by the Director of Research & Development.
  • Post-Secondary Education, engineering degree preferred
  • Computer skills and experience Microsoft Office Suite preferred
