Job Description

We have an Immediate Opening for Human Resources Specialist who is a career minded multitasker, extremely organized individual who operates with grace under pressure attending to multiple demands for their attention.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Ontario, the incumbent is responsible for managing the day to day functions of a full circle service HR Department. The ideal candidate has a minimum 5 years' experience in a Generalist role. Experience, Knowledge, Effective Communication, and Organization skills are critical for the successful incumbent of this position.

Successful Candidate Possesses:

A strong understanding of the vital importance of Employee Relations and can manage multiple requests and demands. Be the first point of contact for employee inquiries. With multiple projects, reports, assignments, and tasks it is required that the successful candidate excellent planning to complete with competing deadlines.

Development and/or implementation of strategies and polices, as related to Human Resources function, through provide a strong collaborative approach is essential in the success of this role. This position performs principle HR functions to ensure overall Confidentiality in fulfilling the administrative needs in the areas of HR, but not limited to, Recruitment, Training, Safety, Payroll, Benefits, Company Social Functions, Auditing, Policy/Procedure, Orientations, and Records.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Highly Organized, Detail Oriented, Accurate and Sound Judgement
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and practices from all levels within the company.
  • Conduct employee orientation and on-boarding.
  • General Office Administration
  • Maintain and Set-up information in HRIS system and Excel Spreadsheets including new hires, status changes, terminations, earnings and deductions, employee personal information, etc.
  • Work with the payroll to resolve any payroll processing issues.
  • Communicate payroll information and notices to employees i.e. year end information, procedural and policy reminders, etc.
  • Provide support, training and guidance to managers / employees.
  • Develop and generate reports and statistics related to compensation, headcount, vacation accrual
  • Prepare job descriptions for new and existing positions.
  • Provide letters of employment as needed.
  • Provide oversight to the benefits plans and programs including health and dental, RRSP program and any other programs that may be added / modified.
  • Work with the Benefits Coordinator to manage and ensure accurate tracking and submission of information.
  • Other duties and assignments as required.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
  • Tact and diplomacy essential in handling difficult and sensitive matters.
  • Team cooperation and respect is required.
  • College Diploma in Human Resources Management, Business or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of Human Resources Specialist experience in a multi-divisional company.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits. Experience with NetHRIS and OpenERP is a definite asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrating intermediate computer skills required in Excel (i.e. formulas, graphs, pivot tables).
  • Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely internal and external customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
