Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Accounting Analyst will maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll. They will conduct regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness, and will manage and monitor the organization’s budget, providing regular reports on budget performance and variances. Additionally, the analyst will analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports on financial performance, trends, and variances. 

In this role, the Accounting Analyst will assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and presentations for internal departments and the Board of Deans and its committees. They will also monitor and manage grant funds, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards. The successful candidate will assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and will collaborate with program managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making. The Accounting Analyst will assist with the preparation and coordination of the annual audit and tax filings, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IRS regulations, state requirements, and other regulatory standards for non-profit organizations. 

Qualifications

WHO WE NEED

Our ideal team member will have the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization. 
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Familiarity with grant management and reporting. 
  • CPA certification or progress towards certification is desirable.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position with health, dental, vacation and 403(b) benefits. The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $75,000 annually.
