Job Description

The Account Manager is responsible for the ongoing procurement of high quality raw materials (recovered paper) to be exported to our clients in the Far East. To this extent, he/she maintains and grows the commercial relationship with existing suppliers and develops new procurement opportunities in the market. Being able to work independently and sharing market knowledge is essential for the role of the Account Manager. The Account Manager will be part of the marketing team and reports directly to the Marketing Manager.

  • Purchase/procure material within/below guide-line pricing and meet/exceed all targets with respect to quantity, quality, claims and extra costs (EC)
  • Material procurement - purchase qualified material to meet his/her specified volume targets
  • Negotiate price/quantity for new Purchase Orders (PO’s)
  • Assess,communicate and negotiate quality claims
  • Cost control
  • Work on (retail) tenders, bidding and contracts
  • Day to day Account Management of supplier base
  • Market development – search for new procurement opportunities within his/her assigned
    region
  • Purchase Order management – coordinate entire PO process to ensure effective execution and delivery of material Communicate with and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external parties
  • Undertake desk based research to identify potential new suppliers
  • Giving feedback on efficiency and suggesting possible improvements
  • Complete and communicate New Supplier Profiles
  • Communicate PO Write Ups (POWUs) + raise new PO’s on SAP
  • Track/coordinate PO last Shipment dates
  • Revise and communicate PO’s where required
  • Liaise with Account Managers on supplier orders
  • Market intelligence – provide ongoing, relevant market intelligence (both ad hoc and via structural communication channels such as Daily Marketing Call and Daily Marketing Report and Monthly Market report)
  • Global mindset and cultural sensitivity
  • Ensure responsibility is taken for H&S which impacts the working areas

A typical day of an Account Manager?

Not a single day is the same! You are doing research, reading a market report and then the phone
rings. It is one of your suppliers with a problem and they want you to solve it. In this role you are the spider in the web. You are the link between the supplier and the back-office (customer service, booking, logistics).

What we ask

  • HBO (Higher Vocational Education) in e.g. commercial economics
  • 5 years experience in a procurement type of role or other commercial role
  • Fluency in English
  • Valid passport/ID and driver’s license with safe driving record
  • You are full-time available
  • Professional appearance
  • You have experience of discussing potential opportunities direct to key decision makers in business or driving agreements through channel partner engagement
  • You will need to be someone who hates standing still. Being 'proactive' is hugely important, as you will be working in a fast moving, dynamic and results driven organistion.
  • Must have existing B2B business development or account management experience, this could have been attained either in the field or as an internal person. The only point we want you to demonstrate is a track record of winning new business
