Job Description

The ideal candidate for an Engineering Manager would be able to do the following:

  1. Ensure that direct reports clearly understand work objectives and use the talent, tools, and processes required to enable successful satisfaction of customer schedule and design quality expectations.
  2. Provide clear reporting on program and process status to management and non-management stakeholders.
  3. Instill a customer service culture of continuous improvement aligned to strengthening practical execution of Alto-Shaam Values.
  4. Relentlessly promote corporate strategic vision through excellence in tactical execution of Lean Product development and Design for Six Sigma frameworks.
  5. Collaborate with internal customers and engineering support functions to establish work priority and develop project schedules.
  6. Assign resources, clearly communicate schedule and quality expectations, and provide resource usage and program status reporting.
  7. Assist direct reports in conducting project risk assessments and ensure execution of contingency and mitigation plans, removing barriers to successful completion of employee work tasks.
  8. Resolve employee and program conflicts through creative means to assure employee support and accountability to timely and quality project execution.
  9. Provide periodic updates on metrics key to area of responsibility.
  10. Guide and develop direct reports through the use of performance reviews and development plans.

Qualifications

For a candidate to be successful as an Engineering Manager they must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 2 years employee management experience in a product development engineering environment (new product development and product line maintenance engineering).
  • Excellent documentation skills and oral communication skills directed to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in coaching/mentoring engineering analytical methods (DOE,QFD/CPM, DFMEA, robust design, mathematical modeling, reliability analysis,…) consistent with a DFSS framework.
  • Possess leadership skills to be able to identify bottlenecks in the development workflow and creatively implement corrective actions
  • High personal work ethic, attention to detail, strong sense of urgency, and ability to positively motivate direct employees as well as other supporting resources
  • Ethical leader who executes with energy, quality, and commitment to the customer and Alto-Shaam values
  • Experience in the food service equipment manufacturing industry preferred.
