WHAT YOU GET TO DO

A Director of Commercial Construction Project Management is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, execution, and completion of commercial construction projects. This role involves a combination of strategic planning, team leadership, client relations, and financial oversight. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful completion of commercial construction projects, driving the company's growth and maintaining its reputation in the industry:

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Construction Risk Management:
    • Work with clients to provide pre-close and post-close construction risk deliverables on their projects and provide expertise and consulting on active projects.
    • Pre-close client deliverables include budget feasibility reviews, geo-technical reports, environmental reports, soil assessment, any other required per standard commercial underwriting requirements.
    • Post-close client deliverables include construction risk oversight of construction projects,
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor project managers, construction managers, and other staff.
    • Coordinate with vendors like architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to deliver quality products.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment to enhance productivity and morale..
  • Client Relations:
    • Lead and mentor project managers, construction managers, and other staff.
    • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project alignment and quality.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment to enhance productivity and morale.
  • Financial Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
    • Manage client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, from initial consultation through project completion and post-construction follow-up.
    • Negotiate contracts and resolve any issues or disputes that arise.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, procurement, and financial reporting.
    • Monitor project expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
    • Ensure timely invoicing and payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Risk Management:
    • Participate in the strategic planning of the company, including business development, market analysis, and expansion initiatives.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships.
    • Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and methodologies.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure that all projects adhere to risk management and safety protocols.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and adjust project plans as necessary.
    • Ensure that all construction activities meet or exceed quality standards.
    • Implement quality control processes and inspections.
    • Address any quality issues promptly to avoid project delays or rework.

Qualifications

WHAT ABOUT YOU?  You have...

  • Experience: Extensive experience in commercial construction, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects, preferably from an EPC or construction engineering company.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED AP) can be advantageous.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse team.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills for dealing with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
