Context of the Mission / Objectives of the Job
Our client, a major player in insurance, is seeking a Solution Architect to reinforce their architecture team. The focus is on developments for Non-Life insurance products, including underwriting applications and claims management. Key challenges in 2025 will involve claim handling and document/content management.
The application landscape primarily includes Angular or .NET MVC front-ends integrated via REST APIs with a COBOL/SQL back-end. Specific functionalities (e.g., Case Management, Document Generation) utilize off-the-shelf packages.
As a Solution Architect, you will engage in the entire application development lifecycle, from inception to operational support. Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding and structuring business requirements.
- Designing efficient solutions addressing functional and non-functional requirements.
- Conducting impact analyses on existing systems.
- Collaborating with IT and business stakeholders.
- Developing a long-term vision for IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Solution Definition: Document, analyze, and prioritize requirements while proposing solutions aligned with business needs and IT vision.
- Analysis & Design: Compare application options, estimate demands, and ensure alignment with functional and technical architecture.
- Implementation: Validate the alignment of implemented solutions with the proposed architecture, providing functional coaching as necessary.
- Stakeholder Management: Establish strong working relationships with technology management, business management, and key stakeholders.

The Solution Architect will identify business requirements and propose solutions that fit into the architectural vision and application landscape while meeting business expectations.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Experience Personal Skills:
- Mandatory:
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate at various abstraction levels.
- Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- High-level conceptual thinking combined with a capacity to dive into details.
- Preferable:
- Experience in large IT organizations (>100 employees).
Business Experience:
- Mandatory:
- Background in administrative or financial services.
- Familiarity with Non-Life insurance, specifically claims handling.
- Experience in document and content management.
Technical Experience:
- Mandatory (2–5 years):
- Application development experience in an IT department.
- Strong grasp of REST/JSON API definition.
- Preferable:
- Knowledge of .NET (Framework, 6+).
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design and ArchiMate.
- Technical background in .NET and COBOL.
Functional Experience:
- Mandatory (2–5 years):
- Significant experience as a Business/Functional Analyst in direct contact with business stakeholders.
- At least one significant experience as an architect.
Language Requirements
- Mandatory: Fluent in Dutch or French, with a basic understanding of the other language.
- Preferable: Good proficiency in English.
