Company Description

Altenar is a leading sportsbook software provider to gaming operators and is looking to bring a junior lawyer into its in-house team to support the General Counsel, Legal Team and business. The role would suit a confident self-starter who is not afraid to take initiative and is able to work well independently and with minimal supervision. Your primary responsibilities would involve advising on employment law, providing legal support to the HR department and drafting employment related agreements but with a view to expanding responsibilities to include other aspects of the business over time. 

    Job Description

    The role sits within the Legal function. You will report to the Senior Legal Counsel based in Isle of Man but shall be working with stakeholders across all departments including human resources, finance, compliance and information security. 

    Skills 

    • 1-5 years PQE (post qualification experience) as a solicitor, advocate or equivalent required – this is a guideline so if you feel that you are suitable, please still apply
    • Experience of and interest in advising on commercial / employment / intellectual property law related matters (including drafting and negotiating contracts). 

    • Experience in Isle of Man, UK or Maltese law preferred.

    • Experience drafting and establishing effective policies and procedures related to employment matters -nice to have

    • Experience and understanding of consultancy/tax/immigration law - nice to have

    • A demonstrable interest in the gaming industry

    • Highly organised and efficient

    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, independently and with minimal supervision

    • Accountability and responsiveness 

    • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to work across different jurisdictions / cultures 
    • Sense of humour ​​​​​​​

     

    Qualifications

    Responsibilities 

    • Provide support in drafting standard agreements and other legal documentation (with a focus on employment law).
    • Assist in the onboarding process for new employees, provide legal advice to HR on international hiring practices
    • Drafting and preparation of employment, consultancy agreements and other legal documentation including policy documents.
    • Work closely with the General Сounsel, Legal Team, HR Team, Marketing, Finance team in other offices, to provide full support and visibility
