Job Description
We are currently looking for a competent and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. managing all construction project costs ensuring it is completed within the stipulated budget. The ideal candidate's role will be pivotal in ensuring the financial success of our construction projects.
S/he’ll be working with leading conservators, architects, and engineers to ensure that the client and contractor deliver the best value for money – advising all parties on the best solutions from a qualitative and commercial perspective.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare bills of quantities by studying specification sheets provided by the sales team.
- Identify gaps between BOQ and drawings, specifications, and condition of the contract and take it for a logical closure.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms for construction materials
- Monitor and control costs throughout the project, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Actively engage in the pre-tendering activities with client, architect, and project managers and raise relevant pre-bid queries from the given tender.
- Preparing the initial quote and contract for the sales team from the company’s side.
- Work with the value engineering and architectural unit in analyzing architectural and service drawings.
- Prepare interim and final valuations, variations, and claims of the construction site.
- Conduct feasibility studies and value engineering exercises.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize project outcomes and achieve value for money.
- Estimating and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan
- Dealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and the change control processes
- Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation take place
- Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost consulting, preferably in the construction industry.
- Sound knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques.
- Knowledge of service guidelines, such as the National Building Code (NBC) and LEED for green buildings.
- Knowledge of contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects.
- Experience working with AutoCAD and validating quantities from the given drawings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with extraordinary negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying.
