Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards, and providing strategic financial advice to the management team.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial management reporting, data analysis, and bank reconciliation. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to; monthly financial reporting, updating reports, data entry, business data analytics, bank reconciliation statement preparation, and other finance and accounting duties as assigned. You will be expected to maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial management reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Perform periodic balance sheet and P&L reconciliations
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
- Perform data entry and posting of daily activities, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct business data analytics to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Prepare bank reconciliation statements, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant financial information and support decision-making.
- Conduct variance and financial analyses
- Collect and analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
- Prepare for financial audit and coordinate the audit process
- Assist with ad hoc financial projects and provide support as directed.
- Adhere to established financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of financial data and records.
- Stay updated with industry regulations and best practices in accounting and finance.
Qualifications
- First degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 3 - 4 years as a Senior Accountant or similar role
- ACA certification is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Solid understanding of Nigerian accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Prior experience in managing and developing a team is an advantage.
