Job Description

  • Oversee maintenance of the demonstration garden and other public areas to ensure that plantings are healthy, free of weeds, and the site is attractive to visitors
  • Grows potted plants and nursery stock and maintains records on the growing operation.
  • Trains and supervises subordinate personnel in greenhouse operations and in the proper methods and techniques of planting ornamental plants.

 

  • Trains ground personnel in the techniques of pruning, wound dressing, cavity repair, and the cabling and bracing of trees and shrubs.
  • Prepares orders for various types of plants and seeds.
  • Supervise the work of assigned personnel to assure acre and safe condition of grounds and landscaped areas
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise gardening activities as required
  • Coordinate and perform landscape design activities and the determination of appropriate shrubs, trees, and various plants, direct watering of plants, fertilization, and pruning of grounds and landscaped areas.
  • Ensure that nursery area is well maintained and stocked and that plants are watered, weed free and attractive.
  • Ensure that plants are priced and labelled correctly and that signage is clearly displayed
  • Ensure that all equipment are well maintained; ensure necessary tools and supplies are available when needed and are replaced after use

Qualifications

1.    Educational Qualification: B.Sc. in Horticulture or any related field

2.    Minimum of 4 years of experience as a landscape coordinator

3.    Trade Test 1,11 and 111 is a must have

4.    Familiarity with maintenance requirements of garden and landscape equipment

5.    Sound communication skills

6.    Good knowledge of HSE principles

NB: Candidate must reside in Ikorodu or its environs
