Our first system, the Allye Max, is an innovative 320kWh mobile energy storage system using repurposed electric vehicle batteries. It is two-times cheaper and has 60% lower embedded CO2 than other similar systems. Our teams are developing the hardware and software solutions to transform our energy is managed at the grid-edge.

Job Description

Role

Are you a junior technician or apprentice and would like to learn how to assemble battery systems? Ideally you have a passion and can demonstrate your hands-on mechanical and electrical skills.

In this role you will work as part of the Allye Production Team producing our energy storage systems. You will be working in a small multifunctional team where you are empowered to improve the way they do things; particularly around quality, cost control, productivity and safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve daily/annual volume throughput goals
  • Assist in building HV prototype energy storage systems, including:
    • Sub-assemblies
    • Battery pack pre-assembly
    • Battery cooling system assembly
  • Assist in the build of electromechanical sub-assemblies
  • Assist in the installation of PCBs and electrical harnesses
  • Participate in manual fabrication and modification of components using workshop equipment
  • Conduct basic HV battery electrical and mechanical checks and testing
  • Support in investigating, diagnosing, and repairing faults on high voltage battery systems
  • Perform daily health checks, equipment/rig maintenance, and assist in fault diagnostics
  • Strictly adhere to HV battery prototype build procedures based on SSOW
  • Follow and assist in managing health and safety requirements of the assembly area
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of production area
  • Assist in developing build processes and building work instructions
  • Collaborate in producing parts and material requirements lists for procurement activities
  • Assist in completing and maintaining all build system documents and ERP system logs
  • Provide general support at HQ, including taking delivery of items, stores work, and equipment ordering

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Interest or experience within a technical discipline, either mechanical and/or electrical
  • Basic understanding of manual and automated assembly manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to working with electrical components, PCBs, and wiring looms
  • Ability to follow work instructions for component assembly, including wiring and soldering
  • Willingness to learn and review build instructions, spotting faults or inconsistencies
  • Basic skills in diagnosing, assessing, and assisting in repairing or replacing faulty components/assemblies
  • Familiarity and basic proficiency with various hand tools and power tools
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic familiarity with computer software and basic computer skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive team player attitude
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Bonus if You Have:

  • Exposure or interest in working with energy storage systems
  • Basic mechanical and electrical skills, including fabrication, machining, and soldering
  • Hands-on experience or a keen interest in the assembly of high voltage batteries
  • Basic knowledge of battery system technology, including cell chemistries, BMS, etc.
  • Exposure to or experience with single and 3-phase electrical supply in industrial and residential settings
  • Basic knowledge of communication protocols, including CAN and RS232
  • First aid qualifications (a plus)
  • Health & Safety qualifications
