Job Description

• Provide high-quality surgical care across a broad range of soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency procedures
• Participate in emergency surgical coverage as part of a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Behavior, Emergency, and Critical Care
• Develop, oversee, and execute individualized treatment and surgical plans while prioritizing patient safety and comfort
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal team members
• Mentor and support Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and surgical support staff
• Participate in surgical case rounds and multidisciplinary discussions for complex cases
• Utilize advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies, including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and in-house laboratory services
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records using EzyVet and Smart Flow
• Engage in continuing education to remain current with advancements in surgical techniques and standards of care

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school
• Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) or completion of a surgical residency with intent to pursue board certification
• Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of New York
• Three or more years of clinical experience in small animal surgery
• Experience performing a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume referral and emergency setting
• Interest in contributing to the continued growth and advancement of a surgical service
