Job Description

What we’re looking for...

A Veterinary Practice Manager who is passionate about serving those who love pets through advanced administration expertise with the superpower of attention to detail! This person has a keen ability to communicate with both pet parents and veterinary staff and thrives in environments where multi-tasking is the key to success.

What will you do?...

  • Provide informal recommendations to the veterinary regional manager on staffing needs, advancement, re-assignments, work hours, or other status changes affecting receptionists.
  • Lead on-the-job training to develop employee skills, give performance feedback, discuss corrective measures, and prepare appraisals.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard staff who fit the hospital's culture and needs and terminate those who don't meet guidelines or protocols. This includes managing job descriptions and helping set salaries.
  • Promote the hospital to potential clients and the veterinary community by attending relevant local and regional events.
  • Address and resolve informal employee complaints, explain hospital policies and procedures, and maintain effective communication between staff and management.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members, supporting the hospital, doctors, and practice philosophy.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including the proper sequence of orders for tests, treatments, diet, and activities.
  • Understand common veterinary terminology (e.g., anatomy, physiology, diseases, tests) to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Communicate with pet owners, addressing and resolving complaints promptly.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and client service skills, including creating work schedules, managing office staff, and demonstrating the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Establish and maintain an inventory control system to ensure adequate supplies, monitoring product quantities, quality, and price points. Handle controlled drugs and manage equipment returns as needed.
  • Answer phone calls politely and professionally and ensure unbiased judgment in handling personnel issues and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experienced or Certified Veterinary Practice Manager with a minimum of 1-year management experience preferred or 3+ years veterinary experience preferred
  • knowledgeable in veterinary medicine terminology and how to run a veterinary hospital 
  • Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
  • Highly organized and possess computer skills
  • Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset
  • Open availability with flexibility to change hours based on hospital’s needs
