Imaging and Optical Engineer
- Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004, USA
Alitheon has invented the patented concept of the FeaturePrint™. Think of a FeaturePrint as a fingerprint for any solid object. As every person has a unique fingerprint, every object has small, unique properties that make it distinct from all other similar items. Featureprinting establishes a verifiable, fingerprint-like identity for every Featureprinted object. Consider the possibilities.
We’ve demonstrated that FeaturePrints work in the lab and in the real world. Now we need to deploy them to our customers via an enterprise-grade platform. We are a small team on a big mission and need to quickly scale to take advantage of the demand coming from Fortune 500 companies.
Do you want to help design our platform? Would you like to work on a creative machine vision platform? Are you passionate about working with a small but growing start-up? If so, we would love to talk to you.

This position will work closely with our Research, Engineering, and Sales/Marketing groups to come up with creative ways to image our customer's parts.
Here is what we are looking for:
Ideally, you'll have a Bachelor's in Physics, Optics, E.E., or related degree. 2+ years industry, but we will consider alternate experience.
You'll be devising imaging systems and need to be familiar with optical and imaging principles such as depth of field, camera gain, exposure value, calibration techniques, illumination techniques, light polarization, etc.
You'll be working with software packages and libraries such as imageJ, GIMP, openCV and should have familiarity with a scripting language such as Python, Ruby, Matlab, Octave, etc.
You'll need to be comfortable working with other members of the team who might be Software or Hardware engineering, researchers or technical sales engineers to define what's needed and then work independently to accomplish the task.

You'll need to be good at analyzing and documenting the results of your work and may occasionally be called on to communicate these results to customers or your teammates in technical presentations.
Above all, we value team members who like to be challenged to learn new technologies, keep themselves up to date with the latest advances in imaging and work in a very collaborative team environment.
