About the opportunity

For this new and exciting role we are seeking an experienced global technical professional to join the Alcoa Bauxite Operations lead team.

In this position you will interface with, and present to the Alcoa Bauxite Lead Team, internal leadership, Alcoa Business System manager, Finance, Engineering, COE and other Alcoa Business Units.

Through implementation of a Project Management Office, this role will manage and coordinate Alcoa Bauxite’s Pit to Customer Productivity Transformation globally, driving operational culture change and improvement against 5 top level productivity measures: Crushed tonnes/FTE; Total tonnes x km /FTE; and, Overall Equipment Effectiveness of Trucks, Diggers and Fixed Plant.

The purpose of the Productivity Transformation Program is to safely improve and sustain increased operating margins of our mining operations utilising ABS principles and tools. Reliably operating at high levels of performance across our mining value chain and associated core processes will not only generate higher levels of free cash flow but also enhance our reputation to be the Bauxite miner of choice globally as we seek to grow the business.

The Bauxite Business Unit portfolio includes 4 Alcoa owned Mines (Huntly, Willowdale, Juruti and Poços de Caldas) and 3 Joint Venture Operations (Ma’aden, CBG and MRN). The total current production of Alcoa is ~50mtpy.

Qualifications

About you

To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success you will possess a related bachelor degree in Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics and have substantial experience in technical support and/or management of large scale mining (or similar) operations in a global organisation at manager level.  A strong knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing and six sigma principles as well as being able to demonstrate workshop facilitation skills, highly effective interpersonal and organisation communication skills and experience in reporting of, or management of financial profit and loss drivers.  Demonstrated business analysis and project valuation skills. Knowledge of supply chain and production control.  Highly skilled in significant change management impacting on people and organisational culture.
