About the opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Legal Counsel to join Alcoa’s in-house legal team on a fixed term basis.  The role will be for a one or two year contract period.

You will provide comprehensive legal services and ongoing counsel to our internal corporate office and site-based clients across a very diverse range of areas including in relation to general commercial, regulatory and compliance matters.  You will proactively and efficiently identify and analyse legal issues and provide advice to the business that is clear, concise and relatable.

The role requires strong legal and communication skills and the ability to work closely with the business to find effective solutions while maintaining the highest professional standards of practice.  Where necessary, you will also liaise with and manage external legal counsel to ensure the provision of efficient and cost effective advice.

Qualifications

About you

To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success you will be an Australian Legal Practitioner with 3 to 6 years post qualification experience and possess the ability to develop, maintain and coordinate effective relationships with a diverse range of internal clients, including executive management. 

You will ideally have general commercial experience, commercial acumen and strong drafting skills.   Environmental and/or health and safety experience will be highly regarded.  Essential to success in this role will be both your ability to work independently and proactively and to collaborate within a highly effective team environment.

Alcoa of Australia’s head office is located in Booragoon, approximately 15 kilometres south of Perth’s central business district. Approximately 150 employees provide corporate services, including finance, procurement, information technology, environmental management and corporate affairs, to Alcoa’s businesses locally and world-wide.
