Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity at our Pinjarra Refinery for an Operation Centre Manager. 

This position is responsible for safely and cleanly achieving production, quality and cost goals to satisfy customers through the effective leadership and management of people and resources.

With an increasing focus on improving the operation of the refinery, we are seeking a manager with the ability to effectively lead and support the Operating Centre (OC) through organisational change as well as manage the existing operations.

Key responsibilities include ensuring the OC has a process to achieve customer-focused objectives, aligning the OC objectives with refinery objectives through effective deployment and implementation of business plans to meet expectations in the areas of Safety, Health, Environment, Production, Cost, Product Quality and People. Effective management of OC resources through collection and interpretation of data and development and monitoring of appropriate plans and budgets is required.

Delivering effective leadership and management practices in the OC while generating a focus on results through teamwork is an integral part of this role, as is the ongoing development of all employees in the OC. Your commitment to building, implementing and managing systems that will be sustainable in current condition and value adding for the future is vital.

As an integral part of the Pinjarra management team, appointment to this position demands a sound understanding and demonstrated ability to manage operations to Alcoa and statutory safety and environmental policies and procedures and to lead rapid improvement in these areas. You will have excellent communication, people management and leadership skills.

We require you to have a thorough understanding of Daily Visual Management, Business Improvement and Change Management principles, a demonstrated ability to manage change, the capacity to manage strategically as well as operationally to ensure maximum efficiency of the Operations Centre. Demonstrated confidence, initiative and sound judgement within a customer-focused framework and a learning orientation is desired.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in both the Science/Engineering and Business Management fields will be well regarded. Strong knowledge of the Bayer process is highly desirable. A proven ability to manage multiple and varied tasks in an efficient manner is essential.
