Job Description

We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Applications/Software Engineer to join the Information Technology and Automation Solutions (ITAS) Global Refining team located at our Burswood office.

The Objective of this specialist role in the Global Refining Manufacturing executions group is to improve end user’s decision making and workflow efficiency through identifying, implementing and maintaining process information systems.

You will provide high-level technical services to all refineries globally in the areas of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Operational Technology (OT), to assist in optimising production, reducing costs, improving efficiency and increasing competitiveness. 

You will be accountable for optimising and extracting value from the current software install base and working with software vendors to incorporate Alcoa’s use case in the next generation of Vendor’s products. This will involve consultative methods, research and diagnosis along with elements of training and compliance. 

You will design and implement the migration of existing solutions to these next generation vendor products, which will include custom development focused around application integration and closing gaps in vendor products.

Qualifications

 To be successful in this role you will need to develop a deep understanding of customer workflows and requirements, technical developments and capital projects across the refineries globally to allow identification of appropriate opportunities for process information applications and lead the relevant projects. Teleconferences outside normal business hours and some travel to Alcoa refineries outside of Australia maybe required to liaise with customers and undertake project work.

You will have excellent communication skills to negotiate project and strategic priorities with customers and management, along with experience in a similar role with a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
