Job Description

Alcoa is currently seeking a graduate student (Masters or MBA) intern to join our strategy group in Pittsburgh, PA in summer 2018.

The Alcoa Strategic Planning and Analysis (SP&A) group is Alcoa's corporate business strategy team. We are accountable for leading the company's global strategy and industry analysis development to help set and support Alcoa's global and business-specific objectives and priorities across Alcoa's businesses in bauxite mining, alumina refining, primary metal smelting, and value-added casthouse products. This internship will allow for global exposure and experience and will be a great opportunity to jump start a career.

During the assignment, candidates will learn our business processes and will be given mentoring and instruction that will help them apply theory to real-life issues. Candidates will also be exposed to a variety of strategy project-based assignments which will allow them to add value to the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects in areas such as growth feasibility, business cases, and strategy problem solving projects
  • Support global industry analysis, including cost curve analysis, competitor analysis, supply-demand analysis, and long-term outlooks

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA and/or relevant Masters degree program

Essential Skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a passion for detailed analysis work and process flow  
  • Strong verbal, written, and illustrative communication skills to be able to convey analysis to senior leadership  
  • Ability to work independently and manage time within a fast paced environment requiring deliverables with short lead times
  • Internship/work experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing setting
