Job Description

Reliability Engineer Duties

1.     Work as an integral member of the Maintenance team to manage a comprehensive predictive and preventative maintenance program while sustainably minimizing cost.

2.     Monitor maintenance and reliability Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for assigned area, and identify opportunities for reliability improvements.

3.     Facilitate the maintenance and repair of plant assets in the most efficient and effective manner possible while sustaining continuous plant operations.

4.     Lead root cause investigations to identify causes of equipment failure, and improve asset performance.

5.     Lead collaborative teams of operators, skilled craft workers, and engineers to develop asset plans.  Plans may include operator care, predictive and preventative maintenance, overhauls, and capital improvements. Analyze and optimize these plans for upkeep of plant equipment.

6.     Partner with asset owners to manage asset health across the facility.

7.     Develop and apply maintenance knowledge to improve operational efficiencies, improve equipment uptime, and reduce maintenance cost. 

8.     Develop expertise in the Alcoa Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

9.     Lead hourly and/or salaried Maintenance personnel for assigned projects and initiatives.

10.  Facilitate productive relationships and effective communication between the Maintenance department and the other plant production and support departments.

11.  Identify opportunities for capital improvement projects in conjunction with project engineers/managers. Participate in reviews of project reliability and maintainability.

12.  Develop expertise in aluminum smelter processes and equipment.

13.  Fulfill department-specific Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.  Be willing to wear required PPE.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in maintenance or engineering field. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering, and maintenance systems principles.

Preferred: 3+ years experience as mechanical, electrical, or similar discipline engineer in heavy industrial setting, leadership experience. Knowledge of failure modes and effects analysis, and root cause failure analysis.
