Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform a wide variety of regular and recurring accounting functions of a moderately complex nature in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards, regulations, laws and company policies and practices.

NATURE AND SCOPE

This position reports to the Accounting Manager and functions under specific direction, functional policies and precedents, and established rules, procedures, regulations, and laws.  This position is required to maintain and complete various financial records and statements that comprise the overall financial statements of the corporation.  The incumbent may also be responsible for cost accounting and financial accounting of one of the company's several owners.  This position requires analytical, interpretive, and evaluative problem solving skills of a moderately complex nature.  For example, the position must properly account for and analyze all costs and production allocated to one the company's four owners.  The position is also responsible for preparation of numerous management reports concerning costs, variances, budgets, income, cash, and costs forecasts, inventories, and rates of return calculations.

The position requires moderate human relation skills because of the need for extensive data gathering from company peers and meeting with parent company and company owner officials concerning financial reports and results.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.     Maintains one or a combination of general accounting, budget, or cost systems.

2.     Analyzes and assists management in interpreting accounts and records for company and corporate officials.

3.     Supply data for the preparation of local, state, and Federal tax returns and statements in a timely and accurate manner according to corporate policy and governing regulations and laws.

4.     May assist in preparing management reports such as financial reports and summaries, production cost variance reports, capital project reports, rates of return and others in a timely manner and according to management information requirements.  Such statements and reports are reviewed and approved by the Accounting Manager

5.     Conducts in-depth cost accounting analyses for individual owners or specific products tracking and identifying all costs.

6.     Maintain and foster positive labor relations and communications both within the Accounting Department and among the plant's various departments.

7.     Monitor and improve processes, procedures, and equipment to reduce or eliminate safety hazards and risks in the Accounting Department with a goal of achieving a zero OSHA recordable case rate.

8.     Completes and updates ASAT requirements on an ongoing basis.

9.     Participates as required in various audits (integrated, partnership, sales/use tax, etc.)

10.  Is responsible for knowing role and responsibilities within Intalco’s Environmental, Health, & Safety management system

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: 

This is an intermediate level accounting position requiring formal training and experience in cost accounting, financial accounting, and in financial analysis and reporting.  The position requires analytical and evaluative skills, well-developed written and oral communications skills.  The position requires interpersonal skills commensurate with the requirement to communicate with all levels of company and corporate personnel and vendors. Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business or Finance.

Preferred Qualification: Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2 years of accounting experience.
