Job Description

As a Consulting Engineer you may perform pre-sales and post-sales consulting services including development of project scope, design, Statement of Work, and implementing advanced solutions that may include routing and switching, unified communications, and other network infrastructure components. The Consulting Engineer will perform tasks including but not limited to: planning, staging of hardware and software, implementation of the solution in the customer environment, providing post-cut support, documentation, and end user training. In addition, the Consulting Engineer will act as a Cisco Voice Subject Matter Expert to customers and mentor to internal staff.

Responsibilities:

Review and validate understanding of customer design requirements

Provide peer reviews to deployment engineers to survey, deploy, and support engineering team, if applicable

Work with the sales team to translate initial scope into actionable items

Hand off design to other implementation engineers or implementation team, if applicable

Manage data/voice networking relationships and work with vendors to escalate issues when necessary

Operate with a high degree of independence

Analyze, isolate and resolve Cisco VOIP system issues for customers – including technical, procedural, operation and functional issues. 

Stay abreast of changing nature of supported technologies through external, internal and self-paced training

Handling multiple projects at the same time to ensure timely project completion

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Experience in Networking and Telephony Installation, Configuration and Troubleshooting

Very strong Cisco routing and switching networking skills        

Cisco Unified Communications Manager/Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express Configuration and Troubleshooting

Cisco IP Phone Configuration and Troubleshooting

Cisco Unity/Cisco Unity Connection/Cisco Unity Express

Cisco Finesse and CUIC operation  

Cisco Unified Presence

Cisco ASA firewalls

Cisco IOS Voice Gateways utilizing H.323, SCCP, and SIP

VMware ESXi    

Demonstrate ability to design and implement complex Cisco networks – analysis and diagnosis of complex voice and data networking

Understanding of voice technologies and protocols    

Excellent communication and documentation skills

Excellent customer facing skills

Ability to quickly learn and manage competing priorities

 

Desired Skills:

CCNA or CCNP Collaboration

Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Cisco Unified Communications solutions

Cisco WebEx and WebEx Teams

Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (highly desired)

Cisco Emergency Responder

Cisco UCS B and C-series server platforms

Experience with call recording solutions such as NICE, ZOOM

Experience with TelePresence video conferencing solutions

Experience with Cisco tools such as Cisco Commerce Workspace and developing a Bill of Materials

Familiarity with Cisco licensing models around routing, switching, and telephony products

Experience in voice gateways

Experience in H.323, SIP, SCCP Standards and Operations

Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory

Familiarity with Cisco UC in a virtualized environment

Previous experience working as a consultant is a plus
