Job Description

As Asset Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the performance of Akuo’s renewable energy assets across Latin America (Chile, Uruguay and in particular Dominican Republic).  

You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and optimizing asset management and operations strategies for a diverse portfolio of solar, wind, and storage projects, sometimes in partnership with other Equity stakeholders. 

Your mission is to ensure the long-term value, compliance, and operational excellence of these assets, while acting as a key interface with a wide range of stakeholders: investors, lenders, technical partners, local authorities, landowners, and internal teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Ensure Asset Management Strategy and its deployment: 

  • Finalize Asset Management and O&M strategies in compliance with the regulations, the requirements of the asset(s) and Akuo’s guidelines. 

  • Ensure respect for HSSE and E&S regulations. 

  • Set up the organizational structure, procedures, and tools to prepare for takeover from construction. 

  1. Asset(s) takeover : 

  • Check the completeness of documentation and information and validate the asset(s) takeover. 

  • Manage the warranty notification period from construction (Defect Notification Period), ensuring the tests after completion and the end-of-warranty inspections. 

 

  1. Key Contract Management : 

  • Define contractual strategies, including schedules and termination plans. 

  • Manage key contracts including claims management and renegotiations: offtake contracts (Utility PPA, corporate PPA, market contracts), O&M contracts, land lease agreements and insurance contracts. 

  • Supervise and optimize the execution of key contracts. 

 

  1. Stakeholders’ management and asset(s) governance: 

  • Manage stakeholders’ communication and contractual compliance with respect to all stakeholders and in particular lenders, shareholders and/or bondholders and regulatory authorities. Execution and monitoring of related agreements. 

  • Implement and ensure the asset(s)’ governance rules and responsibilities. Manage Boards and operational meetings. 

 

  1. Budget and Financial management : 

  • Define a lifetime financial strategy for the asset(s).  

Define and manage OPEX/CAPEX and Business Plans. 

Optimize financial performance: identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue optimization strategies at financial, contractual and patrimonial/tax levels. 

 

  1. Report to the Owner: 

  • Prepare regular reports on asset performance, financial metrics, and key performance indicators.  

  • Conduct in-depth analyses to identify trends and areas for improvement.  

  • Inform and manage incidents and claims. 

Collect, organize and archive asset(s) documentation. 

 

  1.  Participate in regional/global Governance Management 

  • Risk management: risk review and insurance program. 

  • Prepare and analyze operational and financial dashboards at regional/global levels to identify synergies and areas for improvement. 

  • Participate in the definition of Akuo’s lifetime asset(s) strategy. 

  • Provide REX to the other Business and Support units from Akuo 

  • Ensure internal and external communication. 

  • Look for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science + MBA or equivalent, ideally with Financial and/or Legal background 

  • Prior experience in maintaining or operating power plants, or experience in managing oil & gas production assets. 

  • Strong knowledge of key management contract, financial strategy and governance 

  • Operate at the highest level of integrity.  

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously, assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities. 

  • Strong detail orientation and analytical acumen 

  • Familiarity with renewable energy project finance and regulatory compliance 

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook) 

  • Speak Spanish and English fluently, another language is a plus.
