Experienced DevOps engineers:

Some key skills:

·         Coding skills, preferably in one or more of JavaScript, Ruby and Python

·         AWS experience, especially AWS via API. Any experience configuring ELB, ILB, using Lambda, EC2 deployment strategies, or auto scaling would be good.

·         Experience with one or more of Puppet, Ansible or Chef

Soft skills may be even more important.

·         This is a high pressure role, candidates needs to feel comfortable with that

·         Problem solving skills are very important. Things break a lot, documentation is scarce or useless, time is short, production down time is expensive

·         Customer focus: these candidates really need to see themselves as helping a customer (including senior management, but also Jane Developer who just needs an environment set up)

·         A sense of ownership and willingness to pitch in when things are crazy, which will be more or less the norm.

·         A strong interest in learning new technical skills in the DevOps space
