Job Description
SQL Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across development, test, and production environments.
- Perform regular database maintenance, including backups, restores, indexing, and patching.
- Monitor and optimize database performance and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Ensure database security, access controls, and compliance with internal policies.
Development Support
- Collaborate with development teams to support database-related requests, new feature development, and troubleshooting.
- Design, write, and optimize stored procedures, functions, views, and complex SQL queries.
- Assist with database design, schema changes, and data modeling activities.
- Provide guidance on SQL best practices and efficient data access patterns.
Reporting & Data Integration
- Build and maintain complex Power BI reports and datasets, incorporating data from multiple tables, systems, and applications.
- Create or optimize data models and dataflows to support reporting needs.
- Ensure accuracy, performance, and reliability of BI solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
System Monitoring & Maintenance
- Implement monitoring tools and processes to ensure database health, uptime, and performance.
- Proactively identify and resolve database or data quality issues.
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
SOC2 Protocols:
- Assist with SOC2 protocols compliance by implementing and maintaining security controls.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify adherence to SOC2 standards.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data.
- Collaborate with the security team to address any vulnerabilities or risks identified during SOC2 audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, including performance tuning and advanced SQL development.
- Proficiency with T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Experience building Power BI reports, datasets, and models—especially across multiple data sources.
- Ability to work collaboratively with development teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse).
- Familiarity with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or similar.
- Experience with cloud-based data environments (Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instance).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices for database versioning and automated deployments.
