The Property & Infrastructure team at Air New Zealand plays an important role in supporting our people and operations by providing safe, compliant, well-maintained and effective workplaces and facilities across our network.
We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join our Airports & Commercial team. This role will be based in Auckland, currently providing support to our Commercial portfolio including our head office. Please note national travel maybe required, and there is also an element of out-of-hours work.
In this role, you will ensure Air New Zealand's leased and owned buildings are fit for service and able to support the delivery of business objectives, while maintaining compliance, effective maintenance and exceptional customer service for our internal and external customers.
About the role:
- Manage facilities costs and revenue against agreed budgets and forecasts.
- Identify, recommend and implement improvements to the delivery of facilities management services to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Provide strong contractor management, including remote management, issuing permits and reviewing appropriate documentation prior to works being undertaken.
- Take an active role in maintaining a safe working environment across the portfolio, with a strong focus on the health and safety of our people, contractors and visitors. This includes undertaking regular site and contractor safety audits, identifying and addressing hazards and risks, and ensuring appropriate Health & Safety processes and controls are followed.
- Complete and monitor Annual Property Maintenance Inspections, including R&M and capital works requirements, to support annual budget planning and ensure properties are maintained to the required standard.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation relating to maintenance procedures, processes and systems, including Business Continuity Plans, and ensure these are implemented and adhered to.
- Coordinate the delivery of scheduled maintenance to ensure works are completed to schedule and budget with minimal interruption to operations, including minor Opex and Capex projects.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure reactive R&M works are delivered in a timely manner while maintaining business continuity.
- Maintain and develop strong contractor, supplier and stakeholder relationships to support cost-efficient service, best practice and high-quality service delivery.
Our ideal candidate:
- In-depth knowledge of building compliance, systems and procedures, together with a commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
- The confidence, sound judgement and motivation to operate effectively in a busy, operational and customer-facing environment.
- A relevant tertiary, NZCE or trade qualification in a related field.
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements, particularly in relation to facilities operations and contractor management.
- A genuine team-player mindset, with a willingness to contribute positively to the success of the wider Facilities team.
- Excellent communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to connect and communicate effectively with people at every level – from senior executives and business leaders through to frontline teams, contractors, cleaners and service partners.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach, with plenty of common sense and a willingness to get involved and make things happen.
- A strong customer focus and a passion for adding value and providing exceptional service to our internal and external customers.
- A collaborative and approachable style, resilience when things get busy, and a good sense of humour – someone who enjoys being part of a team and contributes to a positive working environment.
