Every safe departure starts long before an aircraft leaves the ground. As a GSE Support Engineer, you'll help ensure the specialised equipment, tooling and test systems our engineers and airport teams rely on are safe, compliant and ready to support aircraft maintenance and operations across Air New Zealand.
Based in Auckland, with Christchurch also considered, you'll join our Tech Ops team and play a vital role in supporting the safety, reliability and capability of our maintenance and airport operations. How you'll make an impact
- Assess GSE, tooling and test equipment to ensure it is safe, compliant and ready to support maintenance operations
- Review equipment purchases and provide engineering advice that delivers safe, practical and cost-effective solutions
- Produce engineering assessments, design records and technical documentation that support regulatory compliance and quality standards
- Develop calibration, maintenance and equipment equivalency solutions that improve reliability and operational capability
- Investigate engineering and compliance issues, identify risks and develop innovative solutions where standard approaches do not exist
- Collaborate with engineers, OEMs, manufacturers and regulatory authorities to maintain safe, compliant and fit-for-purpose equipment.
What we're looking for
- A tertiary engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification would be advantageous
- At least five years' experience in a technical engineering environment, ideally within aviation or aerospace
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, maintenance practices, technical documentation and relevant regulatory requirements
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and engineering judgement, with experience in equipment assessment or engineering design. Finite Element Analysis experience would be an advantage
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and project management skills, with confidence using modern digital tools
