Job Description
Kia ora!
Help keep New Zealand flying through smarter planning and data-driven decisions.
As a Demand Planner, you'll ensure the right materials are available at the right time to support aircraft maintenance and maximise fleet availability. You'll turn complex data into meaningful insights, strengthen planning capability, and help deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers and people. If you enjoy solving complex problems, building strong relationships, and making a tangible operational impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Based in Christchurch, you'll join the Aircraft Availability Tribe, a collaborative team focused on ensuring the right materials are available to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. With a reputation for innovation, operational excellence, and world-class customer experiences, Air New Zealand continues to be recognised as one of New Zealand's most attractive employers. You'll be part of an environment that values fresh thinking, continuous improvement, and people who are ready to grow their careers while making a meaningful impact.
About the role
- Develop and maintain accurate material demand forecasts that support aircraft maintenance and maximise fleet availability
- Translate maintenance schedules, fleet activity, historical consumption and future operational requirements into forward-looking demand plans using statistical forecasting techniques
- Partner with Maintenance Planning, Engineering, Production and Supply Planning to identify material risks early and support effective mitigation
- Analyse forecast accuracy, demand trends, inventory performance and material availability to improve planning outcomes and aircraft availability
- Provide technical demand planning expertise across the Aircraft Availability Tribe and Supply Chain, helping embed best practice forecasting methodologies
- Drive continuous improvement through enhanced forecasting methods, automation, advanced analytics and data-driven planning practices.
What we're looking for
- Experience in demand planning, forecasting, supply planning, inventory planning or a similar analytical role, ideally within aviation, engineering, maintenance or another complex operational environment
- Strong knowledge of forecasting and demand planning principles, with the ability to apply different approaches to intermittent, variable and event-driven demand
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate insights into practical planning decisions
- An understanding of end-to-end supply chain and inventory planning, including the relationship between demand, material availability, inventory, lead times and operational performance
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively across technical, operational and supply chain teams
- A proactive, continuous improvement mindset, with experience using ERP or MRP systems, forecasting, data visualisation or analytical tools considered an advantage.
If you meet the majority of the criteria and are excited by the opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
