We are looking for a high-performing and enthusiastic Senior Data Scientist (Internal job title: Senior AI Engineering Specialist (Data Science)), who will be hands-on, building Data Science solutions, and developing products from concept to production across all areas of Air New Zealand. You will be part of our Data Science team which has developed a strong results-oriented reputation across our business. This is a perfect opportunity for someone passionate about Data Science and AI/ML who wants to come and help drive exciting change at the airline. 

We are looking for people that will bring: 

• A highly motivated, self-starter, proactive attitude that thrives working in a collaborative team environment. 
• The ability to lead the analysis, design, and deployment of new Data Science initiatives.
• A curious attitude, comfortable dealing with problems that are not always well specified or understood and data that is sometimes incomplete and inaccurate. 
• Confidence and experience applying Data Science to help solve business challenges. 

Key skills and experience required for this role:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Data Scientist in a relevant field.
• Strong foundation of Python skills.
• A solid understanding of the mathematical and statistical principles behind data science and machine learning.
• Practical experience delivering valuable data science solutions within an enterprise environment.
• Experience developing machine learning and optimisation models using complex datasets.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
