Job Description

We're hiring for a Maintenance Tech to work at 777 South Broad Street and South Star Lofts located in Center City, Philadelphia, PACheck them out for yourself here:

Whether you're entry-level, or a seasoned pro, we have opportunities for candidates at all levels.  Many of our Maintenance Techs start their careers with limited skills, and are promoted over time to higher levels. 

Available opportunities have the following responsibilities:

Level 1:

  • Provide great customer service to residents
  • Complete basic maintenance and repairs including:
    • Groundskeeping
    • Replacing light bulbs and HVAC filters
    • Repair/paint walls
    • Clean common areas
    • Assist with preparing apartments for new residents to move

Level 2: 

  • Complete Level 1 service, maintenance and repairs
  • Work independently to prepare apartments for new residents to move-in
  • Respond to and complete routine Service Requests including:
    • troubleshooting basic leaks
    • install and/or repair sinks, faucets, and toilets
    • troubleshoot and repair/replace basic electrical components (outlets, switches, fixtures, etc.)

Level 3: 

  • Complete Level 1 service, maintenance and repairs
  • Work independently to prepare apartments for new residents to move-in
  • With limited direction, complete advanced repairs and service including:
    • Troubleshooting HVAC equipment
    • Installs/repairs complex plumbing
    • Fixes/replaces electrical components
    • Installs/repairs household appliances
  • Trains and mentors other Techs
  • May assist with managing quality of work from vendors

All Techs must have:

  • A reliable mode of transportation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, (depending on community needs and seasonality), and on-call shifts (at least one week a month)
  • Comfort with physical activity as you must be able and willing to move heavy equipment and machinery
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

Level 1 skills/experience:

  • 1 year of maintenance experience, or 1 year of training from a tech school.
  • Entry level skills in two or more skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC, carpentry, painting, etc.)

Level 2 skills/experience: 

  • At least 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in some form of facilities or building environment or similar training/education
  • Basic skills in two or more technical trades (plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC, carpentry, etc.)

Level 3 skills/experience: 

  • At least 3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in some form of facilities or building environment
  • Strong skills in most trades OR expert level in at least two trades (plumbing, electrical, appliances, HVAC, carpentry, etc.)

Additional Information

  • Expected pay rate of $16.03 – $27.00. Top performing Maintenance Technicians/ Service Managers have the opportunity to earn $750.00 - $1,500 in Air’s Customer Service Satisfaction bonus per quarter. You will be provided a pay rate that is in line with your skills and experience as they relate to the requirements of the job.
