We have an immediate opening for a unique position that will rely on your software engineering skills paired with your knowledge of GIS.  

This position is way more than just analyzing data - you will be hands-on, utilizing your honed problem-solving skills to develop and resolve GIS pipeline issues. You will get to apply your knowledge and skills on really cool GIS data sets and find solutions that lead to rewarding outcomes for you and our end-users.  If you like to revel in learning new tasks and experiencing new challenges, then AgileSRC has a great job with loads of potential for you.

Your software engineering skills should include the ability to use advanced problem-solving skills, take on project management duties, and lead client-facing meetings. The individual possesses the ability to understand and utilize more advanced concepts and processes in daily activities. Develops new concepts and techniques, analyzes root causes and resolves issues using prescribed methods. Supports more junior level technicians and specialists in their activities, providing insights and advice when and where needed.  The role requires a high level of detail in developing code or creating documentation and a minimum of 2 years of experience in software development at all stages of the process. Can perform all tasks of lower-level engineers. Completed certification in AWS is highly desired at this level. Those coming into the position will have an expectation of full accreditation within six months of starting.  At a minimum, the position requires a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering and/or Computer Science with graduate degrees or previous work experience preferred. 

For immediate consideration, we would like to see the following skill sets:

• Demonstrable experience with Python libraries such as GeoPandas, Shapely, GDAL, Sklearn, and Matplotlib libraries

• Experience working with Spatio-temporal data

• Advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing skills in ArcGIS

• Experience using QGIS, ArcGIS, and spatial datasets to perform spatial and statistical analysis

• Experience with establishing queries, automation, and solving complex issues 

Plus these desired Skills:

• Experience using AWS or other Cloud services is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience developing web applications is highly desirable.

• Experience developing mobile applications is highly beneficial.

• Experience with the following programming languages is desirable: C#, JavaScript, Java.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar) or equivalent technical experience

• Comfort in UNIX/Linux server environments

• Detail-oriented team player with the ability to also work independently

• Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Self-starter and excellent problem solver
