We are looking to hire a reliable and well-experienced Farm Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager to join our capable team of professionals.

To be successful in this role the Farm safety, health, and environmental manager would develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety, health, and environmental management system to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, protect the environment, and comply with regulatory requirements.

 

Job Description

  • Identify potential hazards on the farm and assess their risks.
  • Develop and implement measures to control or eliminate identified hazards.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide regular safety training to farm workers, covering topics such as personal protective equipment, safe machinery operation, and emergency procedures.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Implement programs to monitor the health of farm workers.
  • Promote disease prevention measures, such as vaccinations and sanitation.
  • Ensure that workspaces and tasks are ergonomically designed to prevent injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Promote sustainable farming practices, such as reducing waste and conserving resources.
  • Implement measures to prevent pollution of air, water, and soil.
  • Protect and promote biodiversity on the farm.
  • Keep abreast of relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure that the farm complies with all applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety, health, and environmental activities.
  • Regularly review and update safety, health, and environmental procedures.
  • Communicate safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures to all farm workers, contractors/vendors, and visitors.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the farm team on safety, health, and environmental matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in health and safety.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety Manager, Safety Risk Manager, Certified Safety and Health Practitioner, National Environmental Management Agency)
  • Proven experience in safety, health, and environmental management in agriculture or a related industry.
  • Experience in environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and pollution prevention.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations in Nigeria.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
