We are seeking a skilled and experienced Vehicle Mechanic with expertise in both diesel and petrol engines.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, and other machinery. The role demands a thorough understanding of engine systems, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure vehicles are operating safely and efficiently.

 

Job Description

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel and petrol vehicles, including engine overhauls, brake systems, suspension, transmission, and other mechanical components.
  • Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical issues and use diagnostic tools to pinpoint problems. Provide accurate assessments and repair solutions.
  • Rebuild and repair diesel and petrol engines, including component replacements, tuning, and other related tasks.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on vehicles to reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and prolong the lifespan of the vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to the engine and other vehicle systems, including wiring, ignition systems, and battery-related issues.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are carried out in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and labor time, for future reference.
  • Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of tools and equipment used for repairs.
  • Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques for both diesel and petrol engines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in automotive technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a vehicle mechanic, with expertise in both diesel and petrol engines.
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with experience using automotive diagnostic tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle engine systems, both diesel and petrol.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
