Job Description
The Director of Finance plays a key role in the financial management and growth of the organization through Adtalem’s Growth with Purpose (GwP) transformation. The individual directly supports the Chief Transformation Officer and Business Unit CFOs. The individual is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and management of the financial operations of Growth with Purpose, and guiding teams to implement the identified objectives.
- Serve as a key leader with global, enterprise-wide understanding of the business and technical financial processes
- Advances the understanding of the operational drivers of performance, and uses them to provide a “challenger” view in key operating review meetings
- Build relationships with, influence, and lead an indirect team of stakeholders across Adtalem and its institutions
- Creating timely, detailed, and accurate analysis of quarterly actual results to budgeted results, and provide insight into trends and root causes
- Perform financial analysis and modeling to identify resource and investment alternatives- Provide financial support to campus, online and home office leaders.
- Leverage analysis and benchmarking results as the basis for focusing improvement priorities and achieving best practices.
- Leads the development of analysis or other special projects to support strategic and executive management decisions as assigned by the CTO and/or CFO.
- Leads analysis of past trends and future demand; proposes strategic direction, provides thought leadership and engages senior leadership and other influencers as needed.
- Partners with the institutions and functions to set standards and build business cases to justify new investments required to reach the future state.
- Evaluates and advises management on the impact of short-term and long-range initiatives and plans.
- Works with cross-functional and cross-institution project teams to solve business problems.
- Partners with strategy team(s) on the prioritization of strategic initiatives and evaluates investment opportunities for strategic and financial value.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance required or related field required and MBA preferred
- 7 years financial planning & analysis experience required and previous consulting, higher education preferred and healthcare experience preferred
- Superior quantitative and qualitative analytical skills combined with outstanding written and verbal communication skills required
- Deep understanding of operational and financial processes, and the relationship between the two
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and secondary research skills needed. Ability to synthesize and clearly articulate information a must.
- Excellent leadership capabilities to influence peer and senior-level stakeholders.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $100171.61 and $175761.85. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
