  • HYBRID – If you reside within 50 miles of Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL this role is hybrid, requiring office presence three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu), with the rest of the workweek spent working from home.
  • REMOTE – If you live over 50 miles from Adtalem offices in Chicago, IL, Addison, IL, Columbia, MD, Minneapolis, MN, and Miramar, FL, this role is remote. However, occasional office visits may be required based on business needs, with advance communication for such requests.

The Associate Dean I will function as part of a leadership team in conjunction with the Dean and/or Associate Dean II. The people filling these positions will need flexibility and creative problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to their professions, assessment, accountability, and evaluation.

In this role you will: 

  • Report to the Dean and/or Associate Dean II and work closely with academic administrators, academic advising, administrative staff, and faculty.
  • Organize activities of specialization coordinators, working with other service units on faculty development matters.
  • Develop and maintain community amongst faculty and students.
  • Oversee the applied practice experience within the MPH and DrPH programs, including approving and reviewing applications, learning agreements, and evaluating preceptors and practicum sites.
  • Assist with student placement for those students who have challenges.
  • Supervise the field experience coordinator.
  • Provide guidance to faculty who teach the MPH & DrPH applied practice seminar courses.
  • Oversee the continuing education offerings by the college (e.g. webinars).
  • Maintain CEU provider status with NCHEC (MCHES/CHES) and NBPHE (CPH).
  • Serve on MPH/DrPH, university and college committees.
  • Facilitate an Applied Practice Experience seminar course at the doctoral level.
  • Support CEPH retention initiatives and reaccreditation efforts as assigned.
  • Chair the MPH/DrPH Professional Development Task Group.
  • Oversee and host quarterly meetings with the MPH & DrPH Professional Advisory Committee comprised of external constituents, preceptors, employers, and alumni.
  • Assist with CEPH required alumni and employer data collection.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Public Health (DrPH or PhD), or a closely related field is required.
  • Five or more years of leadership experience at the degree level of the program is required.
  • Experience overseeing a practicum process is a strong plus, including learning agreements and collaborating with preceptors.
  • Prior involvement with CEPH accreditation/reaccreditation efforts is a plus.
  • Experience overseeing Continuing Education offerings is a plus.
  • A significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to and experience in the practice of a relevant academic field.
  • Content area expertise related to the college’s degree programs.
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment including students who are experienced professionals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the necessary characteristics to work with a strong administrative team to assure the continued success of a growing organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Statistical knowledge to analyze data for outcomes assessment and program review.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to resolve system-based issues to improve unit operations.
  • Fluent skills in working with electronic communication and office productivity tools.
  • Evidence of compatibility with the mission of positive social change, broad access and professional excellence and our values of quality, integrity, and student-centeredness.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
