Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The FSI Forklift Driver is responsible for transloading waste bale paper from freight containers in adherence to all company policies and procedures in the efforts of meeting the company’s annual goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish warehouse best practices to achieve efficient warehouse protocols
  • Review and resolve problem load as needed
  • Proficient thorough understanding of the overall operation and each job requirement able to fill in as needed and train new hires
  • Operate Forklifts. Responsible for safe operation of equipment
  • Using safe lifting techniques, efficiently sorting, handling, loading and unloading freight to/from containers\
  • Using pallet jacks and forklifts in the loading and unloading of freight
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management as business needs dictate
  • Adhere to all safety rules, policies, and guidelines.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable laws/rules/regulations on a federal, state, agency, and municipal level.
  • Provide window coverage for Long Beach & Wilmington locations as needed
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures as specified in the departmental SOP’s and in the Employee Handbook.

  • Physical Demands:  While performing duties of job, incumbent is frequently required to talk and hear, sit for extended periods of time, stand for extending periods of time on the dock while forklifts or other industrial trucks/accessories, operate within proximity. Required to frequently stand, walk, stoop and climb. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to lift, pull, push, or carry objects.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: This position requires work in a production and office environment.  The production environment has a loud noise level and requires PPE (safety vest, face mask), ambient temperatures are warmer in the summer and colder in the winter, and may have exposure to vapors, chemicals, dust, and odors. Safety Vest and Face Mask PPE are required in any production and office areas.  Other PPE may be required related to specific tasks.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Experience in a transloading work environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of Heavy Forklift experience
  • Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and basic repair
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of concentration over extended periods of time
  • Mechanical ability and experience
  • Experience, agility and ability to work in small or congested spaces
  • Resilient energy - endurance - maintaining physical strength for a long period of time

Pay: $19/hr-$21/hr, DOE

Shifts: Monday - Friday, some Saturdays, 4:30am-1pm, 1pm-9:30pm, 9pm-5am
