Job Summary:

The Transportation Coordinator will interact with office and warehouse personnel as well as customers to provide information in response to inquiries about status of orders. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while providing the highest quality of customer service to both internal and external parties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and scheduling the day to day activities of transportation employees.
  • Frequent communication with Management team regarding status and logistics of deliveries/pick-ups to ensure quality service is provided to our customers.
  • Assist management team in the supervision of transportation personnel.
  • Ensure all deliveries/pick-ups are done efficiently, specific customer requests or concerns are communicated to all transportation employees.
  • Support Dispatcher in their duties of dispatching trucks to meet customer requirements
  • Document and communicate any routing delays.
  • Communicate with drivers on approximate delivery times when customers call for updates.
  • Provide updates to Transportation team on delivery inquiries and delivery changes.
  • Act as a liaison between driver associates and Transportation management team
  • Monitor commercial drivers’ Hours of Service and maintain DOT compliance
  • Make appointments for pickup and delivery and update systems
  • Keep track of empty container availability
  • Forward PODs (Proof of Delivery) on appropriate web-billed accounts
  • Monitor import container releases from the pier and rail to prevent demurrage
  • Monitor and answer daily emails
  • Monitor Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) for any mechanical issues. Coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Advise Transportation Manager and Supervisor of all fleet related issues
  • Attend and participate in Safety meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to all security and operational procedures.
  • Other transportation activities as required by the needs of the company and the customer base.

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Customer oriented problem solver with ability to adapt to new situations.
  • Able to Multi task.
  • 2 years past experience in the Logistics, distribution or LTL.
  • High school diploma or greater.
