My Traverse City client is in need of a Chief Java Architect/ VP.  This person will be a hands on technical leader and will manage Engineering teams. You will report to the CTO directly and manage the Engineering team, you’ll be tasked with making sure the Software Engineering team runs smoothly. You will partner with the Quality & Release Engineering team to create and drive our technical vision to deliver amazing innovations on our custom technical platforms.

Skills for this position should include:

•10+ years’ experience leading technology teams and establishing technology strategy for businesses

•Has been in a leadership position for at least 3 years with a total team (direct and indirect reports) greater than 20 people

•Understanding of how to design, build, and scale a modern cloud-native architecture

•Deep technology knowledge, and an ability to architect and reason about mobile, data engineering, microservices, and operations

•Strong hands on knowledge Java, able to do code reviews, mentor and lead developers to make sure our financial engine is running a peak efficiency

•An ability to architect, organize and arrange teams and people, as well as you can systems

•Able to attract, develop, and retain the best technical talent to Traverse City

•A willingness and desire to be a highly visible and hands-on leader both at work and within our community

•Strong organizational skill and can delegate successfully

•Effective at collaborating with different teams to deliver solutions

•A constant desire to do the best thing for our members, the team and the business at all times

This is a “Player/ Coach” position.  Ability to code in Java is required.
